Shay Henrion is a museum collections management specialist and blogger. A graduate of Boston University and the George Washington University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies, respectively. Currently based in Washington, DC, she has worked at a number of area museums, including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museums of American History and Natural History, and the National Museum of Health and Medicine. Shay has several years experience caring for objects of a variety of media, a passion which she developed during her study of Archaeology, where preserving people’s “stuff” is key. She has mastered the legal and ethical requirements of museums, and is well-versed in standard collections management practices.
In addition to her museum work, Shay is the author of My Confidence + Me, a fashion and lifestyle blog in which she explores her personal fashion and documents tidbits of her life in the nation’s capital. Passionate about connecting with others, writing a blog has allowed Shay to further develop skills in social media and branding, photography, writing, and graphic design. Always eager to explore opportunities, Shay is looking to put this self-taught experience to good use in a social media or marketing position.
